Our Story
Food has always been a major part of our lives. My mother cooked large pots of
gumbo and other southern dishes to feed her large household, friends, and people in
the community. If someone was sick in our neighborhood, mom would send food to
help them heal. Today, Balondemu and I find ourselves following in my mother’s
footsteps in regards to family, community, compassion and food.
Balondemu and I decided to start Onyxx Village Connection to feed the hungry,
eliminate food waste, and connect the community to resources that could improve
the quality of their lives. Originally, we picked up and delivered meals out of a PT Cruiser,
then we moved to a Ford Edge, now we have a large Ford Transit 250 Cargo Van.
While food is an important part of our service, Onyxx Village Connection is on a
mission to connect communities to food, resources and compassion.
Our Mission
Onyxx Village Connection (OVC) restores the dignity of underserved individuals
and families in East Palo Alto, CA and surrounding cities, by building consistent
personal connections with love. OVC helps the whole person nurture their mind,
body, and soul by delivering meals, resources, and compassion through
mobile outreach and partnerships.
